Semester 1 Check-In

Hey all! I just realized I haven’t really posted since the start of the school year, but that’s ok. It’s officially the first of October, which means spooky season is upon us. I, for one, am excited for it to finally start cooling off so I can wear more sweaters and enjoy warm beverages. I’m also looking forward to the changing of the leaves because that is my favorite look of the campus. Already, a few trees are starting to change, but I can’t wait until they change more.

Theatre Studies

Auditions for the Theatre Studies production went well! I was cast as the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, which is pretty exciting. It is a smaller role, but I’m fine with that. I have a lot of things going on this semester, so having some extra time to dedicate to classes rather than spending all of my free time in the theatre building.

Rehearsals have mostly been going well so far. There are a LOT of people in this production, so that has definitely been a challenge to get used to. I do get upset sometimes when people are talking while Stephen is giving directions or if people start talking backstage as soon as they get back there. Hopefully this changes as people get used to how rehearsals work and Stephen’s directorial style.

My biggest issues with the way rehearsals are going right now are 1) I am usually only in a scene for 2-3 lines, but I have to stay for the whole rehearsal, and 2) lots of loud people talking + work lights = going home with a headache most days. Again, I’m hoping that once we get into the swing of things that my feelings will change. I really want this to be a good experience because I won’t be able to do the show next semester.

Accounting/Tax Classes

So far, my tax class has been going surprisingly well! I only got two questions wrong on the first exam and Mrs. Vandenberg allows us to throw out two questions. So technically I aced my first tax exam! Hopefully I can keep my grade in the class high for the rest of the semester.

Intermediate Accounting, on the other hand, is a different story. I didn’t do as well on the first test as I wanted to. My grade was about an 83%, which isn’t horrible, but it definitely wasn’t what I wanted. At least now I know that I should spend some more time studying for this class in the future.

Current Music I am Listening To

Recently, I’ve been listening to a lot of chill music while I’m working at the TechBar. Some examples are shown below.
