Reflections on Fall ’24

With the onset of winter and the promise of winter break, reflections on the Fall ’24 semester seem to be in order. Thanksgiving break is late this year, so when I get back from that I’ll be at school for another week and 3/4 before heading off back home. After that, my internship starts and shortly after that classes start back up. So, I’ll try to enjoy the respite while I can.

Good Things!

I always like to start with thinking about the good things that I did this past semester. Here’s a list of what I can think of right now.

  • The Theatre Studies show went well!
  • I am passing all of my classes with either an A or AB as of right now
  • Spent over 25 hours working on the tulle heart for April
  • Reconnected with some old friends from Freshman year
  • I have a car now!
  • First semester at TechBar has gone well
  • I learned how to use HTML and CSS (and very minimally learned JavaScript)
  • I’m killing it in my Tax class

Improvements

I have a few improvements that I would have wanted to make during the semester.

  • More patience with others (especially First-Years during the show)
  • More structured study time for difficult classes (especially before tests)
  • More time to decompress for myself
  • I wanted more time at home (but I want that every semester lol)

Goals for Next Semester

I have a few goals for next semester to hopefully minimize my improvements section and expand my good things section.

  • Set aside 2-3 hours on Sunday just for myself (work out, crochet, take a walk, self-care, etc.) NO worrying about homework during this time.
  • Find time in the evening (probably 6-9PM) to do some homework each night. Try to be done with schoolwork by 10PM.
  • Go to bed by 11:30 each night. I have 8:30 classes every morning next semester, so having a set bedtime will be beneficial.
  • A week before the Intermediate Accounting exams, start reviewing the concepts to make studying for the exam easier.
  • I want to get As in all of my classes. If this is not possible (I might not have the time to dedicate to studying) I want at least an AB in each class. I don’t want anything lower than that, though.
  • Cook for myself at least once a week. I did okay with this in the past semester, but I want to plan out a meal at the start of each week and get better at it. I’m worried that I will be tempted to eat out more because I will be working later in the day. So, I want to try and combat that now.
  • Find some time to hang out with friends!
  • Offer to help only if I am certain I have the time for it.
